The A.W. Tozer Bible - Review

I purchased a copy of the A.W. Tozer Bible on sale recently. My version is the black flexisoft edition, King James version. I've got a couple of books by Tozer and a great little book of quotes that I got from a mentor/pastor a few years back. When I saw this Bible on sale I wanted to get a copy to see how Tozer's writings are incorporated with different topics and verses throughout the Bible.

Some great features of this Bible:

  • Over 365 selections of Tozer's writings sharing the page with the Bible verse it references. 365 selections means you could do a one-a-day devotional reading with a Bible passage and commentary by Tozer.

Sample commentary: Tozer writing on the infilling of the Holy Spirit, coupled with Acts 2. "One of the most telling blows which the enemy ever struck at the life of the Church was to create in her a fear of the Holy Spirit...Few there are who without restraint will open their whole heart to the blessed Comforter."

  • More than 100 excerpts and writings about the Christian faith in everyday life.
Since my blog is primarily a Church Planting blog, I wanted to note this exceptional quote by Tozer. Especially applicable to the Church Planting field! Keep going back to the Word of God as the blueprint for the Church!

The full-color maps look great in this edition.

Summary: This is a great edition of the Bible that is beautifully printed. Color throughout, including the sepia tone sections for book introductions and Tozer's commentary call-outs. The pages are thin and some bleed-through exists, especially where color is used for maps, etc, but as my samples show there's some bleed-through even in text areas. This Bible has been on sale for several weeks now at very low prices and I consider it worth the purchase for the quality and the Tozer commentary and book excerpts it includes. Published by Hendrickson Bibles. It once retailed for $69.95 and the sale prices I've seen have it under $20. 1,664 pages. Text size 8 point. Note size 7 point. One ribbon marker
